21st century Trish accidentally takes a time-travel excursion to Custer’s U.S. Indian War Army camp during its final preparations for the 1873 Yellowstone Expedition. Permanently and hopelessly stranded, and frustrated by the confusing clash of social and language differences, she desperately struggles to find a way to adjust to her horribly inconvenient new life – and cheekily tries to refrain from revealing TOO much about future events and inventions. Along with her cell phone and ballpoint pen, she befriends the regiment’s engineer-surgeon, who quickly realizes he can profitably take advantage of her knowledge of modern medicine – and everything else about her. Ultimately, Trish comprehends the march of history, and comes to appreciate – and deplore – modern living. She also learns about the two types of Time Machines.
